Mahmoud Taher, president of Al-Ahly FC, said Saturday in a press conference that only the club’s committee has the right to dismiss the board.
The board held the press conference is response the court ruling to dissolve its last week. The board stated, in the conference: “We held this press conference to explain our next steps in the upcoming period. We have our complete respect for Egyptian judiciary.
“On the other hand, we maintain all our possible legitimate rights to uphold the will of club committee. Only the committee has the right to let us go, and we demand that government officials disclose who caused the administrative irregularities in club elections that led to this problem.”
The board members continued, stating the next step would be to notify the prosecutor general.
A court ruled to dissolve the board last week, stating that administrative irregularities were committed during the Al-Ahly club elections, which selected the new board, led by Mahmoud Taher.
