Neuer received 188 votes from football experts, more than double runner up Gianluigi Buffon, to win goalkeeper of the year from the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS).
The 29-year-old star has won the award for the third year in a row, putting him on par with other greats like Oliver Kahn, Walter Zenga and Jose Luis Chilavert. Only Buffon and Iker Casillas – who have four and five awards respectively – are ahead of Neuer as the the all time best goalkeeper.
Neuer had one of the best goalkeeping records in the world in 2015, keeping 25 clean sheets in all competition. Bayern had the best defensive record in the Bundesliga because of his performance, and have only allowed eight goals in 17 Bundesliga games this season.
Neuer was also on Friday voted into the UEFA team of the year, the only German to be included in the team that has been put together by the top users on uefa.com.
