There was an explosion Tuesday evening on Al-Ayatt railway track in the Giza Governorate. No causalities were reported in the blast.

The blast caused two carts of a passing train to separate and left a hole under the train.

Two additional explosive devices were found on the railway track in front of Mansha Fadel in the town of Al-Ayatt. Explosives experts however defused them.

Security forces are searching for the suspects.

Late in December 2015, an improvised explosive device was detonated on the eastern bound Cairo-Zagazig railway track in the Sharqeya governor,te leaving no casualties.

Explosions have been a frequent occurrence in Egypt since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013. The explosions have primarily targeted security personnel and their facilities. However, there have been attacks on public transportation infrastructure.

The governorates of Fayoum, Gharbeya, Aswan, Mahalla and Sharqeya have been subject to attacks on electricity pylons, drive-by shootings, and explosions. North Sinai has witnessed the highest frequency of attacks.
