Sporting Alexandria wins Egypt’s Basketball Cup

Al-Ahly SC lost Egypt’s Basketball Cup to Sporting Alexandria Club in the final match held at the Suez Canal Authority’s stadium.

The score was (61-61); which resulted in the game going to overtime, where Sporting Alexandria managed to beat Al-Ahly with a final score of (81-87).

Al-Ahly managed to reach this match thanks to its win against Ittihad Alexandria club, where they scored (84-89).

Among its domestic victories, Al-Ahly managed to win the Egypt Super League Champions three times in 1989, 2000, and 2012. In 1990, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1999, 2004, 2009, 2011, Al-Ahly won the Egypt National Cup Champions. Al-Ahly also has a continental victory from its win at the FIBA Africa Clubs Champions Cup in 1999.

As for Ittihad Alexandria, it is considered the basketball powerhouse of Egypt with very qualified players such as Mohamed El-Gazzar, Moamen Abdou El-Lanin, and Mark Aziz.
