To strengthen the draft law of the regulatory activities of the Egyptian gas market, which was approved by the Egyptian Cabinet on the 28 October 2015, the European Union is organising an “Awareness Session” about the reform of the Egyptian gas market.

The awareness session, which is to take place on Wednesday, will focus on the draft law’s essential content and provisions to gradually open up the Egyptian gas market by improving its efficiency, introducing fair competition and presenting the essential elements of gas transmission, network code, transmission tariff, and licenses for gas activities.

This awareness session is considered part of the current work and technical assistance offered by the European Union to the Egyptian Authorities, among which are the Energy Sector and Policy Support Programme, in cooperation with the Egyptian Gas Regulatory Working Group.

The awareness session is an important opportunity and should be utilised by Egyptian public and private stakeholders, gas industry players, and international investors in infrastructure and energy to receive first-hand information and guidance about the future reform of Egypt’s gas market.
