Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Qabil met with EU delegation to Egypt

Minister of Industry Tarek Qabil launched the 10th furniture trade exhibition, Furnex, on Wednesday, gathering 150 companies and 400 investors in the furniture sector.

The trade exhibition, taking place at the Cairo International Convention and Exhibition Centre, is organised by the Egyptian Furniture Export Council (EFEC) and the Egyptian Exporters Association (Expolink).

Qabil said in a statement that the trade fair provides an opportunity for Egyptian furniture exports to flourish, noting that the sector can export to other countries, after meeting the needs of the local market.

According to the minister, previous Furnex exhibitions witnessed the signing of export contracts worth $100m.

Qabil said he invited more than 1,000 representatives of international furniture chains in this edition of the exhibition.

Egypt is targeting the development of the furniture industry, with the government adopting a project to establish a furniture city in Damietta, to become the largest industrial area specialised in the manufacturing of furniture and complementary industries in the Middle East.
