Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia decided on set of resolutions after a meeting to discuss updates on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) in Sharm El-Sheikh on Saturday.

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, Ethiopian prime minister Hailemariam Desalegn, and Sudanese leader Omar El-Bashir agreed to establish a constitutional framework to advance cooperation between the three countries in different fields.

According to Presidency Spokesperon Alaa Youssef, the three parties also agreed to create a mutual fund for developmental projects across the three countries. Moreover, they agreed to form political, economic, social, and cultural committees to monitor the progress of cooperation in the different fields.

Further, the three countries agreed to encourage meetings between their respective parliaments to deepen their understanding and cooperation on the public level.

Tripartite meetings are expected to resume after six months to review progress on the aforementioned resolutions.

The meeting follows at least 10 other meetings where the three countries discussed the technical aspects of the GERD in light of studies undertaken by foreign consultants.

Last Wednesday, a tripartite meeting was held with representatives of the two French companies set to conduct studies on the impact of the GERD.
