Ceramica La Beaute will open its new porcelain factory using squeezed technology in March, deputy managing director Sobhy Nasr said.
Despite suffering a lack of energy in the industry, ceramic factories in Egypt produce 1.3m sqm of ceramic tiles, Nasr said.
His factory’s production capacity, which the company will announce in the coming period, will be sufficient for the projects.
The ceramics industry continued production and factories did not raise prices, even in the wake of the increase in the value of the dollar against the pound.
“Ceramic companies provided the social housing project with ceramic tiles at a cost of EGP 25 per metre,” Nasr said. “Egyptian ceramic factories rank first internationally. It is intended to import ceramic from abroad.”
The lack of qualified manpower for developing the industry’s activities is due to it being a heavy industry and therefore requiring more labour.
