Fifty public and private construction companies have submitted technical and financial bids to the Ministry of Housing to execute the social housing project across Egypt.
Deputy of the New Urban Communities Agency (NUCA) Kamal Fahmy stated that the companies submitted their bids to the Cabinet in accordance with the Cabinet’s direct order to the Ministry of Housing to involve private and public construction companies in executing the social housing project.
Fahmy stated that the constriction works in the project have already begun and will continue to be developed over the course of the next year to deliver 100,000 social housing units in the cities of 6 October, Obour, Minya, and Al-Sadat. Every unit consists of three rooms and a reception.
The Ministry of Investment and NUCA have offered 64 plots of land for further development.
“In the current period there are 100,000 social units being built under the framework of the social housing unit project and about 95,000 units are still to be built,” said Fahmy. “The coming period will witness development of new cities starting from Aswan in Upper Egypt through Al-Sadat city, where the government has developed 70,000 acres.”
