The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology issued a tender to supply network security devices to the Administrative Control Authority (ACA).

The ministry set the deadline for the provision of technical and financial offers for the tender for 21 March.

The tender comes amid a larger strategy to modernise the IT infrastructure of the ministries and governmental bodies. Further, the Ministry of Communications renewed the protocol of cooperation with the Administrative Control Authority to modernise and upgrade its IT infrastructure.

The ministry has indentified technical and financial systems for the selection of the winning tender companies. The tender will be awarded to companies that meet the condition of scoring 75% in the technical evaluation to accept their offers.

This technical evaluation includes evaluating compliance with technical specifications for the companies’ devices and previous experience. The bid requirements further set nine months for the supply, execution, and delivery of the project.

The ministry also developed a plan for the implementation of three large projects through the public-private partnership (PPP) system. The projects target the automation of the commercial and real estate registry offices, with investments approaching EGP 2bn, as well as the manufacturing of 40m smart metres at a cost of EGP10bn.

Furthermore, the ministry issued a qualifying tender among companies and alliances that wish to bid for the automation of the commercial and real estate registry offices.  Four alliances were chosen to propose a limited tender within weeks, following which one of them will be selected to implement the project.
