Four Egyptian table tennis players qualify for 2016 Rio Summer Olympics

Owing to their outstanding performance at the 2015 African Games, Egyptians Dina Meshref, Nadeen El-Dawlatly, Omar Assar, and Khaled Assar secured their place in the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics in the table tennis singles division.

Owing to their outstanding performance at the 2015 African Games, Egyptians Dina Meshref, Nadeen El-Dawlatly, Omar Assar, and Khaled Assar secured their place in the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics in the table tennis singles division.

In the African Games, held from 5 to 19 September in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, Dina Meshref and Omar Assar won gold in the women’s singles and the men’s singles, respectively.

Nadeen El-Dawlatly won silver, while Khalid Assar took home bronze.

In the doubles competitions, Dina Meshref and Nadeen El-Dawlatly won silver.

El-Sayed Lashin and Ahmed Saleh played together, while Omar Assar and Khalid Assar formed another duo. Both duos took home bronze in the men’s doubles.

In the mixed double competitions, Omar Assar was paired with Dina Meshref, and Ahmed Saleh with Farah Abdel Aziz; both won bronze.

As for teams competitions, the Egyptian women’s national team took home gold, while the men’s team won silver.
