Egyptian Banking Institute organises SME development workshop

Egyptian Banking Institute (EBI) organised a workshop on how to develop small and medium enterprises (SME) in Egypt on 8 and 9 March, according to executive director of EBI Mona El-Baradei.

The workshop was held over two days and was attended by Lobna Helal, the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE,) CBE assistant sub-governor May Abuelnaga, Abla Abdel Latif, the head of the economic development council, the Malaysian Ambassador to Egypt, and a group of workers from the banking sector.

El-Baradei began the workshop by talking about the initiatives the CBE launched to support the SME sector.

The workshop also reviewed the Malaysian experience in the field of developing this sector by experts from SME Corp, SME Bank Malaysia, and Maybank.

During the workshop, Abuelnaga presented policies and regulations that help the financial growth of SMEs in Egypt.

Moreover,  Egyptian representatives highlighted sucessful experiences in the country’s attempts to support the SME sector.
