About eight Egyptian ICT companies expect deals worth more than €3.6m (approximately EGP 36m), after they participated at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2016 held last month in Barcelona, Spain, according to an ITIDA press statement on Thursday.
The companies participated in the event under the representation of the ‘EgyptOn’ pavilion, which is supported by Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) in Egypt, the statement read.
The companies reported to ITIDA that more than 710 clients flocked to the pavilion, including 172 potential clients. The Egyptian companies followed up and conducted further talks with these potential clients during the event.
“All the companies reported that MWC 2016 was a major opportunity to display their products and services,” the statement said. “Egypt is already a home and delivery centre for a myriad of global enterprises, hundreds of multinational companies, and regional players with growth rates for exported services reaching 15%.”
