Military forces in North Sinai killed 60 alleged militants and injured another 40 in clashes in Rafah and Sheikh Zuweid, an army spokesperson said Friday.

The strikes included air raids on different positions south of Rafah, believed to belong to IS-affiliated militants. The raids destroyed several trucks, motorcycles, and weapons.

The raids come after the deadly attack against El-Safa checkpoint in Al-Arish city last Saturday, resulting in the death of 15 police officers.

IS-affiliated group “Sinai Province” claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement, and published photos documenting the attack, including photos of police weapons and IDs.
