Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with his Bahraini counterpart Khalid Al-Khalifa on Monday in Manama.
Shoukry is currently on a tour and will visit the UAE before heading to Washington.
Shoukry and Al-Khalifa discussed preparations for the ninth round of the joint Egyptian-Bahraini committee which will be held in Cairo on 16-17 May, according to a statement from the foreign ministry.
The committee was established in 1992 upon an agreement between the two countries to enhance cooperation on the economic and political fronts both regionally and internationally.
The committee was last held in 2009. Attempts to revive it have been ongoing since 2014, and the cooperation coordination body is set to resume.
In their meeting, the two ministers also tackled regional updates, especially on the Syrian, Yemeni and Palestinian fronts.
Shoukry will leave to the UAE later on Monday before heading to the US to take part in the Nuclear Security Summit that will be held between 29 and 31 March.
