The Board of Directors of Emirates Telecommunication Corporation (Etisalat) appointed Saleh Al-Abdooli as CEO of Etisalat. Al-Abdooli will take over the leadership of Etisalat’s operations in the UAE market and internationally.
Al-Abdooli’s experience has spanned over 25 years in the telecommunications sector, with his most prominent steps being the establishment of Etisalat Egypt, which changed the parameters of the Egyptian telecom market.
In 2012, he returned to the UAE, amid intense competition in the market. During his two years as CEO of Etisalat UAE, the company was able to accelerate development in infrastructure at the financial, marketing and technical levels.
These efforts contributed to the UAE being ranked first place globally in terms of the ratio of fibre optics used in the infrastructure of the telecommunications sector in 2013 and 2014.
Al-Abdooli was moreover ranked by Forbes as second among the 50 most powerful executive leaders in Global 2000-listed Arab companies listed in the 2000.
In addition to his new position, Al-Abdooli occupies positions as deputy chairman of the Board of Etisalat, and heads the Executive Committee of Etisalat Egypt. He is also the chairman of Thuraya and member of the Board of Directors of Mobily.
