Argentinean Juan Mónaco won the 2016 US Men’s Clay Court Championships in tennis, which concluded on 10 April, in Houston, Texas.

Mónaco defeated US player Jack Sock in the men’s singles’ final, with scores of 3-6, 6-3 and 7-5.

Sock failed to maintain the tournament’s title for this year, after the 2015 championship. As for Mónaco, this is his second victory in the tournament, as he won the 2012 championship.

Mónaco was not the only Argentinean who stood out in this championship. In 2010 and 1993, the championship title went to Juan Ignaciop Chela and Horacio De La Pena respectively.

Further, Argentinean Jose-Luis Clerc was the winner of this championship for two consecutive years, in 1980 and 1981.

In the 2016 doubles, the victory went to US duo Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan, who won in the final match against the team formed by Dominican Víctor Estrella Burgos and Mexican Santiago González.
