The total cost for the restoration and construction of schools in several governorates across Egypt will amount to EGP 80m until June, head of the Takatof Association for Development Hossam Badrawi said.
Takatof has already developed five schools in Darb Al-Ahmar district in Cairo and aims to build another school in Beni Suef by the end of 2016 which is being funded with €250, 000 from Japanese investments.
The association will complete the restoration and construction of a girls’ school for 600 pupils in Sayeda Zeinab, Cairo before the end of June at an estimated cost of EGP 4.5m. This is the second school that the association will have developed in this area.
“By June, the association will have developed 20 schools at a rate of one school every seven months,” Badrawi said.
The majority of the restoration and construction operations are self-funded by the association, though certain companies do fund a small proportion such as the Suez Cement Company.
