Turkish and Egyptian gymnasts raise the bar at international championships

At the 2016 Grand Prix Osijek Žito Challenge Cup, held in Croatia, Turkish artistic gymnast, Ümit Şamiloğlu, won gold on the horizontal bar, with a final score of 15,225. Bronze went to another Turkish gymnast, Ahmet Onder, whose final score was 14,275.

Onder won again in the floor work, this time bronze. His final score was 14,800. Egyptian Eli Zahran took silver on the rings with a final score of 14,900.

Turkish artistic gymnast İbrahim Çolak, 21, did not manage to reach the higher ranks in this championship. He came in fifth place on the parallel bars with a final score 14,425 and fifth place again on the rings, with a final score of 15,675.

Last year when Çolak won bronze on the rings at the Baku 2015 European Games in Azerbaijan. The year previous he qualified for the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Nanning, China.

The three Turkish champions, Şamiloğlu, Onder and Çolak are part of the men’s national gymnastics team.
