The Chamber of Tourism Companies and Agencies demanded its member agencies request a copy of the chosen hotel’s licence and insurance policy when booking for guests in the coming period.
A statement issued by the chamber, of which Daily News Egypt received a copy, stated that the decision aims to maintain the rights of tourism companies and Egypt’s reputation under the current conditions of the sector.
It added that this will avoid any problems that may encounter tourists visiting Egypt.
The chamber paid $410,000 to some of the families of Mexican victims who were killed by mistake in the Western Desert in August 2015, Ahmed Ibrahim, bursar of the chamber, told Daily News Egypt in previous statements.
Head of the chamber, Khaled Al-Menawy, said tourism to Egypt will be promoted in different areas, such as Central and South Asia, as well as North Africa in order to help it recover in the next period.
Al-Menawy said that the coming period should see tourism inbound from North African countries, on the back of launching tourist programmes after the holy month of Ramadan.
He predicted that some 400,000 tourists will arrive during the first year from the Arab Maghreb countries, as the Ministry of Tourism lifted some restrictions for these countries, such as acquiring visas prior to departure.
