TIEC launches IBTIECAR 2016 for outstanding graduation projects

The Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) in the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has announced the launch of the IBTIECAR competition for university students’ graduation projects, including communications engineering and information system students, for school year 2015/2016.

This is the fifth year of the competition.

The competition expresses the centre’s keenness on enhancing the youth’s culture of innovation and encouraging outstanding ideas in fields related to common technologies or ones designed to serve the state’s strategic goals, said the centre.

TIEC organises the competition in cooperation with a number of Egyptian and international companies as well as governmental agencies, including the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), Huawei, EMC2, Orange, Intel, AvidBeam, Mipex, and Google.

The total value of the awards to be given to the winning projects for the year 2016 amount to EGP 140,000, in addition to mobile phones, and a training programme in TIEC’s accelerator unit with the cost of EGP 15,000 per project. Winners will obtain the training for free.

To apply for the competition, candidate students and professors must submit a summary of the research project. The deadline is on 30 June.

The second phase of the application includes proposing the final project, with the deadline being on 20 July. The events of the competition will be concluded with giving the winners the awards as well certificates of appreciation in the centre’s annual ceremony.
