The State Council Administrative Court ruled on Tuesday in favour of cancelling the maritime demarcation agreement that saw the cessation of the Red Sea islands of Tiran and Sanafir to Saudi Arabia in April.
During the session, the court rejected that it could not adjudicate on the case before ruling in the plaintiffs’ favour.
The ruling stated that the Egyptian state should continue to exercise all acts of sovereignty over the islands.
The government can appeal the ruling, but it remains unclear whether it will do so.
