Fairy tales often end with the princess wearing a breath-taking gown that is embellished with nature’s most beautiful pearls and flowers. On the other hand, a magical finale could never be complete without a blinding set of jewellery, as well as a majestic tiara.
Last week, a handful of Egypt’s top fashion and jewellery designers showcased their most precious work in an attempt to help children live their own fairy tale. After a massively successful TV campaign, Ahl Masr Foundation invited the country’s top celebrities and influencers to a charity gala at the Salah El-Din citadel.

Designer Shahira Fawzy showcased an oriental collection that went hand in hand with the current season. Meanwhile, Farida Temraz took part in the charity auction with a gown of her design that was worn at the Academy Awards. The glamorous dress is made of thousands of hand-stitched pearls and was first showcased during Los Angeles Fashion Week. Moreover, this particular dress marks the very first Egyptian gown to be worn on the iconic red carpet of the Oscars.
Additionally, jewellery designers Dima Rashid, Azza Fahmy, and Ihab Bahgat added an evident bling to the night with their precious collections of jewellery.
The event also included a performance by the Egyptian mawlaweya (Sufi chanting) and singer Mohamed Rashad. The night was hosted at the citadel with the aim of reviving the venue’s legacy.
All of the event’s proceedings went to the foundation, which is the region’s only free hospital specialised in paediatric burns.
