The black boxes recovered from the crashed EgyptAir flight MS804 will be sent to France next week for repairs, the investigation committee said in a statement.

The investigation committee previously reported that the black boxes had sustained extensive damage from the crash.

The statement added that the boxes will be returned back to Egypt once repairs are complete. They will then be examined by the Ministry of Aviation for data analysis.

The committee said perviously that the data analysis may take up to several weeks “if the memory units of both recorders are in good condition”.

The investigation committee of the crashed aeroplane received the black boxes from the general prosecution after the two devices were retrieved last week.

The search vessel John Lethbridge has continued to search for wreckage of the aircraft in the Mediterranean Sea. A team of French forensic doctors will also join and assist the Egyptian forensic team in extracting the remains of victims, the statement added.

The same vessel discovered aeroplane wreckage in several locations on Wednesday. Both the search team and investigators on board the vessel will draw a map marking the wreckage distribution areas.

On 19 May, EgyptAir flight MS804, flying from Paris to Cairo, crashed into the Mediterranean Sea, claiming the lives of all 66 people on board.
