Nestlé Egypt has partnered with online retailer Souq.com to sell its food and beverage products through the internet starting 13 June, becoming the first company to sell grocery products online.

Nestlé will be selling a wide range of products, in addition to exclusive products only available on Souq.com.

The venture represents Souq.com’s first step into the e-grocery market. According to research conducted by Nielsen, 55% of those surveyed are willing to start ordering grocery products online.
Omar El-Sahy, general manager of Souq.com–Egypt, said that partnering with Nestlé will provide them with the opportunity to enter a market where 35.6% of household budgets are spent on groceries.

Through such a partnership, consumers will also be “only a few clicks” away from buying their grocery products online, making it possible for Nestlé to reach “all Egyptians,” said consumer communication & e-business manager of Nestlé  Mohammed Abo El-Fotouh.

El-Sahy added that such partnerships will be one of the pillars that Souq.com’s success will be built on.

Both Nestlé and Souq.com have prioritised e-commerce in order to take advantage of this new niche in the Egyptian market.
