We have delivered much of what we committed to do even against difficult odds: Al-Sisi to DNE

A delegation from the US congress arrived in Cairo Sunday to meet with President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, according to an official statement from the US embassy.

The delegation is being led by Dana Rohrabacher, chairperson of the Europe, Eurasia, and emerging threats subcommittee of the US house of representatives, who will also meet with other senior government and private sector officials.

The delegation’s visit aims to discuss the long-standing partnership between the US and Egypt, efforts to fight terrorism, and shared interests in regional stability and security, the US embassy further stated.

Several US congress members have visited Egypt in recent months and also met with Al-Sisi and other senior officials.

During a visit earlier this month, a US congressional delegation recommended supporting Egypt in its counter-terrorism efforts.

Defence Minister Sedki Sobhi met the director of the US Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) Vincent Stewart in mid-June. Both sides affirmed that economic support is as important as security and military support.
