President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi will participate in the African Union Summit on Saturday, held in Rwanda’s capital Kigali, to foster Egypt’s role in Africa and assert Cairo’s ties with African countries, according to the Egyptian presidency.
The presidency added that the visit’s objective is to also push economic and social relations forward, and “achieve peace and stability”, as well as discuss the African Union commission elections.
Al-Sisi is expected to meet with African leaders to discuss Egypt’s membership in the African Union and the possible formation of an African free trade zone.
The summit will be held from 10 to 18 July.
