The Tourism Development Authority of the Ministry of Tourism is preparing to participate in IFTM Top Resa, an international business-to-business tourism exhibition in France, from 20-23 September.

The Ministry of Tourism has allocated an area of 84 sqm (275 cubic feet) at the exhibition for Egyptian companies to use. This is according to an official at the authority, who added that the cost of participation for a company or a hotel will be €1,150.

The French market is one of the most important European markets for Egypt, head of the Egyptian Tourism Authority Sami Mahmoud said. It is a diverse market for Egypt’s tourism products, including beach tourism on the Red Sea and cultural tourism in Luxor and Aswan.

The tourist influx from France to Egypt totalled about 136,000 tourists in 2015, a decrease of 5.6% compared to 2014

According to Mahmoud, the Ministry of Tourism will launch several tourist programmes in the coming period in cooperation with the private sector. These programmes are to be launched in the Arab Gulf, Europe, Central Asia, and North Africa.

Mahmoud believes that Egyptian tourism opportunities in the new markets of Central Asia and North Africa are very promising. The Ministry of Tourism is currently working on a plan in coordination with private sector companies to arrange for these opportunities.

The former head of the Chamber of Tourism Companies and Travel Agencies told Daily News Egypt that the North African market is able to send 900,000 tourists a year to Egypt in coordination with tourism companies there.
