Former grand mufti Ali Gomaa survived an assassination attempt by unknown assailants who opened fire at Gomaa this morning while he was attending Friday prayer, state media reported. One security guard was injured in the attack.
The attack took place in the Fadel mosque in the 6th of October City residential area.
According to state media, Gomaa’s security thwarted the attack.
