OLX Egypt for classified advertisements has released its twice-yearly report, revealing a 76% increase in used cars advertised for sale on OLX in the first half of 2016, in comparison to the same period of 2015.
Şahin, Lancer, and Verna were the top three models that Egyptians looked for. Meanwhile, the most commonly advertised brands were Hyundai with 41,702 advertisements, Fiat with 36,994, and Kia with 24,053.
The report showed a 61% increase in real estate advertisements, including sales and rentals, in the first half of 2016, versus the same period in 2015.
The three most popular areas on OLX Egypt were Alexandria with 604,302 searches, Nasr City with 416,462, and Maadi with 186,582 searches. According to this report, the total value of second-hand goods put up for sale on the website reached EGP 4.2bn—equivalent to 70% of the total revenues from the tourism sector in 2015.
Advertisements over the first half of 2016 have doubled compared to the last three months of 2015. This indicates that Egyptians are becoming more accepting of selling used items on the internet, the report stated. Over the past six months, Egyptians have searched for “air conditioner” the most, as well as other keywords, such as iPhones, dogs, salons, and PlayStation 4.
OLX is a website specialised in classified advertisements across more than 45 countries. It helps people to sell, buy, or exchange used goods locally and easily via mobile phone or other devices without paying commission.
