GB Auto topped the list of bestselling Chinese cars in the Egyptian market with 97.3% of the total Chinese-manufactured auto market. The competition over the market share was between Geely and Chery.
The two brands, Geely and Chery, made sales of 4,875 units over the first half (H1) of 2016, out of a total of 5,011 Chinese cars sold in the same period. Geely Emgrand 7 was able to recover and seize the throne of bestselling Chinese car in the Egyptian market over Chery Tiggo. The former sold 1,790 units worth EGP 185m, while the latter made EGP 278m from selling 1,781 cars.
Chery Envy ranked third selling 1,297 cars in the first six months of 2016 worth EGP 130m. Brilliance V5 followed with 124 cars sold worth EGP 19m. Geely Pandino ranked fifth registering four cars sold with sales of EGP 339,000.
In a previous report collecting data of sales between January and May, Chery Tiggo topped the list of bestselling Chinese cars in the Egyptian market over Geely Emgrand 7, which had previously occupied the top spot for 16 months. Tiggo registered sales of 1,563 cars at a value of EGP 243m, during the period between January and May. Chery models were released into the market through its agent Ghabbour Auto in March.
Geely Emgrand 7 ranked second and registered sales of 1,482 cars in five months worth EGP 152m.
Chery Envy occupied third place selling 1,044 cars in the first five months of 2016 worth EGP 104m. Brilliance V5 sold 57 cars worth EGP 8.9m.
