A delegation from the General Authority for Investments and Free Zones (GAFI), headed by Mohammed Khodair, will travel to Nairobi on Friday to participate in the activities of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD).

More than 100 Japanese companies operating on the African continent will participate in the conference along with a number of African authorities and investors.

The GADI delegation will participate in seminars on investment and trade in Africa, discussing the important role of the private sector in the development of the continent.

“This gathering is a real opportunity to communicate with Japanese companies that wish to study African markets, including Egypt, and identify the reforms undertaken by African countries in light of Japan’s eagerness to invest in these countries,” said Khodair.

Khodair explained: “We will showcase Egypt’s efforts towards creating a better investment climate in the presence of political leaders and representatives from African governments and business leaders.”

Khodair said he is looking to gain knowledge and take advantage of Japan’s experience in successfully promoting and marketing its Japanese products.

Japan ranks 31st among the list of foreign countries investing in Egypt. A total of 62 Japanese companies are engaged in industry, services, and agriculture in Egypt, providing an estimated 1,600 jobs.
