The Press Syndicate General Council, headed by Yahia Qalash, will send a report to the prosecution on Sunday, addressing recent allegations of corruption within a medical insurance initiative carried out by the syndicate.
The embezzlement allegations were filed against the syndicate by member of parliament Moustafa Bakry.
The case involves a number of journalists and employees from the financial administration.
The syndicate had previously formed a committee headed by Gamal Abdel Reheem and Mohamed Shebana, including members of the syndicate’s legal, administrative, and financial departments. This committee has been formed to induct immediate investigations regarding the financial irregularities attributed to the syndicate. The committee is to collect documentation related to the concerned case, which will then be presented to the prosecution, the High Board of the syndicate said Sunday.
