Internet users increase by 500,000 customers in June

The number of internet users rose by 1.4% in June, compared to May—from 34.3 million customers in May to 34.8 million customers in June, an increase of approximately 500,000 customers, according to a report issued by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

According to the report, the number of mobile internet users grew from 26.5 million users in May to reach 27.27 million in June, a growth of 3.17%.

The number of USB internet users fell from 3.64 million users to 3.41 million users, a decline of 6.4%.

The report also signalled a growth in the number of ADSL internet users by 1.6% in June compared to May. The number of users increased from 4.1 million users in May to about 4.2 million in June.

According to the report, mobile internet users increased from 27.7% in May to 28.4% in June.

The internet sector grew by 700,000 new users in May, compared to April, as the number of internet users in Egypt increased from 33.6 million users in April to 34.3 million users in May.

ADSL internet service prices saw a 36.3% decline during the first quarter of 2016, compared to the same period in 2015.
