The South Cairo Prosecution released on Wednesday members of the Street Children band and satirical group after 150 days in detention, according to the Association for Freedom of Thought and Expression (AFTE)
The band was accused of inciting people against the authorities, forming a group that stands against state principles, and attempting to topple the regime.
Street Children gained fame online for its satirical videos posted on Facebook about ongoing political events and leaders, namely President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
The troupe, which is composed of six young men who work in theatre and study art, gained mass popularity after a video of their satirical performance went viral on social media.
Street Children is one of a number of similar cases that face criminal sentences for freely stating opinions about social and political issues.
