Hyundai dominates Korean car sales

Hyundai acquired 85.9% of the Korean automotive market sales in the first seven months of 2016, selling 24,300 cars out of 28,300 Korean-made cars sold in total.

The carmaker was able to seize the top five spots on the list, outperforming its rival Kia.

Hyundai Verna topped the sales list for the Korean carmakers. A total of 8,092 cars were sold with a total value of EGP 817m.

Tucson came in second place, achieving sales of 4,780 units worth EGP 1.4bn.

Elantra HD recorded the third highest sales with 2,744 cars sold. Elantra AD followed, having sold 1,766 units worth EGP 351m. Creta came in fifth with sales of 1,623 units worth EGP 370m.

Kia’s new Cerato came in sixth with 1,556 units sold worth EGP 309m.

Over the first half of the year, Hyundai held the top six places on the Korean brands list, with Kia tailing.

Verna topped the sales list of the Korean carmakers in the first six months of 2016. A total of 6,689 cars were sold with a total value of EGP 675m.

Tucson came in second place, achieving sales of 3,944 units worth EGP 1.2bn in the same period.

Elantra HD came in third place with recorded sales of 2,175 cars. Creta followed, having sold 1,394 units worth EGP 317m. The Accent RB registered sales of 1,287 cars worth EGP 202m.

Elantra AD followed in sixth ranking, selling 1,191 cars, while Kia’s new Cerato came in seventh with sales amounting to 1,136 units worth EGP 226m.
