Al-Sisi, Al-Bashir give speeches in Egyptian-Sudanese high committee

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and his Sudanese counterpart Omar Al-Bashir gave speeches on Wednesday during the Egyptian-Sudanese high committee meeting that for the first time is held on a presidential level.

In his speech, Al-Sisi welcomed Al-Bashir and the Sudanese delegation and stressed on the importance of fostering cooperation between the two countries. He also shed light on the importance of prioritising free trade.

Al-Sisi also praised Sudanese efforts for peace and initiatives for a national dialogue in Sudan. He called on Al-Bashir to launch an inclusive strategic relation to foster the bilateral ties.

Al-Bashir said that the presence of commercial borders between Egypt and Sudan will have rather strong economic benefits. He further added that the bilateral cooperation between the two countries will increase to achieve strategic and economic goals.

The Egyptian-Sudanese committee convened on Sunday in Cairo and concluded its session on Wednesday. In the past years, the meetings and sessions were held on a ministerial level. This is the first time it is held on a presidential level. The committee first held its meetings in March 2011 in Sudan’s capital of Khartoum.
