Heliopolis Sporting Club has organised a peaceful protest against the accidents caused by lorries [trucks]. Hundreds of innocent people die every year in these accidents, whether on the barely monitored motorways or in the packed city streets.

Participants called for the enactment of decisive laws that order lorry drivers to only drive at certain hours and at a certain speed.

Protesters also asked for medical tests to be conducted on lorry drivers, to guarantee that they do not partake in any mind-altering substances. These medical tests would also examine their mental, physical, and psychological health to ensure that they are alert while driving.

Amongst the participants was Rabab El-Meligy, who recently lost her daughter Dania in an accident like this.
