A group from the Egyptian Armed Forces travelled to Jordan to begin a joint military exercise with the Jordanian armed forces entitled “Al-Aqaba 2016”, according to a statement by the armed forces spokesperson released Friday.

The joint military exercise confirms the historical and strategic relations between the two countries, said the statement. It aims to exercise both forces to advance their skills and to confront challenges threatening in the region.

The exercise will conclude on 25 November.

Navy and air forces from both countries will take part in the exercise.

The exercise will help both sides coordinate to implement certain tasks together in the context of counter-terrorism.

This is the second consecutive year both countries will participate in such an exercise.
