The Federation of Egyptian Banks will hold an extended meeting on Sunday, which will be attended by the leaders of banks operating in the Egyptian market.
Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Tarek Amer decided to attend as well, according to a prominent banker who was invited to the meeting.
The meeting is planned to discuss the most significant issues in the banking field at this time, including the flotation of the Egyptian pound, the market’s situation after the liberalisation, the amounts of foreign currencies in banks, and the pricing of the pound.
Amer held a meeting last Thursday with the heads of banks directly after deciding to float the Egyptian pound to inform them about the decision, its execution, and other related manners.
