Samsung Electronics Company announced the launch of the fourth round of its Entaleq Developer Challenge at Cairo ICT, taking place 27-30 November at the Cairo International Conference Center. Ten innovative developers will be selected to win EGP 250,000 in cash prizes, admission to the Samsung Partnership Program, and expert promotion of their winning apps. Registration for the next Entaleq event is held at Cairo ICT and ends on 1 February 2017.
Seung-ho Yun, CEO of Samsung Electronics Egypt, said that the company is committed to supporting tech entrepreneurs in Egypt and around the world, as an industry leader and technology innovator. He added that through Entalaq, Samsung will be able to engage with Egypt’s brightest minds to help bring their ideas to life.
Since it was first launched in 2013, Entaleq has encouraged developers from across Egypt to submit their innovative and creative ideas and watch them come to fruition. This year’s round will focus on Samsung’s latest innovative products, supporting apps, videos, and even games that contribute to and redefine the various vital sectors of the Egyptian economy, such as tourism, education, health, and any project that benefits the community. This year’s competition includes three main development pillars: virtual reality (VR) content (360 videos, apps and games), wearable apps (gear apps), and the Internet of Things (IOT).
Prizes for the top 10 most innovative VR, gear apps, and IOT apps/content are as follows: first place EGP 100,000, second place EGP 50,000, third place EGP 20,000, fourth place EGP 10,000, and fifth place EGP 10,000. The remaining five winners will receive premium Samsung devices.
“We at Samsung Electronics Egypt have great confidence in the Egyptian youth and their ability to develop innovative concepts, which is why we launched the Developers Day in 2012 and three rounds of the Entaleq initiative in 2013, 2014, and 2015,” said Sherif Barakat, vice president of Samsung Electronics Egypt. “To continue this success story, we launched this year’s round, Entaleq 4, as we stay committed to the Egyptian market and its users.”
Entaleq will also include a number of initiatives to support tech developers, such as physical or virtual support labs to test their apps, run trials, and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal app performance.
In addition to announcing the launch of Entaleq 2016/2017 at Cairo ICT, Samsung is also sponsoring the first-ever Innovation Arena located in the foyer of Hall 3, where 30 start-ups will be showcasing their work to VIPs, experts, venture capitalists, and the public. The kickoff event for the Innovation Arena will take place during Cairo ICT 2016 on Monday.
