Prime Minister Sherif Ismail decided to cancel the decision to exempt imported poultry from customs for a period of six months, according to a press statement released on Monday.
The decision was made to ensure what poultry products are provided at an affordable price, according to regular reviews. The statement did not provide a reason as to why the decision was annulled.
The statement noted that the government is obliged to continue its duty of providing goods in the market and control the prices, and the Ministry of Supply is working to import the necessary quantities of poultry to meet the local market needs through coordination with the Poultry Producers Union.
Poultry Producers Union provides the government with 2,000 tonnes of poultry per month, which are distributed across Egypt.
