On the occasion of the prophet Mohamed’s birthday, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi delivered a speech about the necessity of developing religious discourse.

After greeting all those attending to the celebration, the president said he agreed with the minister of religious endowments that a committee comprised of scholars of religion, psychology and sociology should be formed. These members would discuss Egyptian society’s strengths and weaknesses in order to develop a roadmap which includes all religious occasions throughout the year, as well as a plan to correct misconceptions surrounding religious discourse within five years.

The president explained that the first challenge would be the separation of religious discourse from the essence of Islam itself. He added that scientists and intellectuals have agreed that the discourse must be ameliorated so as to correct the accumulated mistakes.

The president also discussed the state’s efforts to maintain stability in Middle East, and reviewed the economic conditions of the country
