A conscript and a militant were killed during a police raid that targeted a flat in 6th of October City on the outskirts of Cairo.
According to state media reports, the flat was suspected of harbouring terrorists. Officers from the Homeland Security apparatus raided the flat and were met with gunfire.
The conscript was a member of the Egyptian Special Forces Department of the Central Security Forces. Security officials said that he will receive a military funeral.
The alleged militant was reported to be a 26-year-old student named Mohamed Farag. News reports say that the he allegedly participated in several attacks on police and military personnel.
Since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi, police have intensified operations against alleged militants.
