Egypt Post has started offering some civil status services through postal service centres around the country, according to the cooperation protocol with the civil status department affiliated to the Ministry of Interior.

Essam El-Sagheer, chairperson of Egypt Post, said that the services offered include birth, family, marriage, divorce, and death certificates, and the renewal of IDs. One pound will be collected to submit the application, and an additional three pounds as a cost of the service, plus the regular fees paid by citizens when requesting the service on the internet. If customers want to receive the service in their place of residence, they will be charged EGP 10.

El-Sagheer noted that the authority started offering civil status services on 17 December as a trial. The first phase of the project is being carried out gradually, with roughly 500 centres currently operating throughout the country. Around 15,000 employees are trained to offer citizens services with high efficiency.

El-Sagheer explained that offering these services is a continuation of efforts to develop the services offered to customers and develop new services that target different segments of society.
