The Cairo Criminal Court resumed on Tuesday the trial of more than 700 defendants in the case publicly known as the “Rabaa dispersal,” which includes detained photojournalist Mahmoud Abou Zeid, known as Shawkan.
Freedom for Shawkan campaign reported that the next trial session will be held on 25 February. The trial also includes leading Muslim Brotherhood figures.
The defendants face charges of illegal public assembly, vandalism, possession of weapons, obstruction of roads, and endangering public order.
Shawkan, the only journalist in the case, has been detained since August 2013. His lawyers claimed, before court, that he was on duty covering the events.
