Minister of Industry and Trade Tarek Kabil announced a new decision for restructuring the ministry that aims at reducing bureaucracy and improving the efficiency of human resources.

The minister stated in a report issued on Monday that the new structure would reduce the number of the ministry’s sectors to 7 instead of 13, the number of central administrations to 20 instead of 29, and the number of general administrations to 67 instead of 88, without prejudice of any financial values or employee rights.

It is the first restructuring since the merging of the two ministries of trade and industry back in July 2004, the statement read. However, Kabil added that the ministry will reduce its agencies and institutions to 25 in the near future instead of 36 currently.

He added that the new restructuring aims at increasing transparency and improving the efficiency of the government’s ministries and institutions, which is a part of its “Egypt 2030” strategy.
