Minister of Industry and Trade Tarek Kabil stressed the minister’s keenness to enhance joint cooperation with international business organisations to benefit from their expertise in the development of the Egyptian economy, particularly in the field of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and the development of industrial zones to attract more foreign investors to the market.

This came during a meeting between Kabil and the regional director of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Carlos Conde, who is currently visiting Egypt.

Kabil pointed out that the meeting also dealt with aspects of cooperation between Egypt and the organisation to develop the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).

A delegation from the ministry will partake in the 51st workshop on developing SMEs held by the organisation’s Centre for Entrepreneurship, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, and Local Development (CFE) in Paris at the end of April.

For his part, Conde affirmed the organisation’s keenness to bolster its ties with Egypt through implementing a number of joint development projects. He highlighted the importance of the SCZone, adding that the OECD aims to provide all aspects of support to its development.
