A lower-ranking police officer died on Saturday as a result of injuries from an attack earlier this month, state-run media reported, citing Mohamed Sharshar, deputy health minister for Gharbeya.
According to him, the officer suffered from brain injuries and has been in the emergency room and on a ventilator machine. He is to be given a military funeral on Sunday in his hometown.
On 1 April, a bombing took place near a security forces training camp in Tanta. One police officer had already been killed then, in addition to over ten injured, including two civilians.
The local militant group named “Lewaa Thawra” claimed responsibility for the bombing.
