A police sergeant was shot dead on Wednesday morning in front of the Faisal metro station in Giza.
According to state-owned media Al-Ahram, the incident is related to vengeance, not terrorism. Al-Ahram cited an unnamed security source claiming that the victim was killed in retaliation. Other local media reported the same claim.
Local media had reported that the policeman was shot three times. Attackers were not identified.
Policemen have often been individually targeted in drive-by shootings claimed by local militant groups.
